Being sick sucks a lot. Being sick on the weekend sucks even more. Those of us who have more traditional jobs (i.e. work during the week and have off on the weekends) look forward to the weekend to relax and unwind from the week of work. I didn't get to do that this weekend. I got up early on Saturday morning and went to First Baptist Church of Cambridge, MD and helped tear down a wall. We took down a wall between two classrooms to make one big room. The church has a preschool that is finally moving into the building and they needed the rooms opened up. So we took the electrical wires out of the wall and then we cut it out with some reciprocating saws. We ended up taking out a section that was about sixteen feet long, so we cut up the wall into sections that were about two and a half feet wide. Once that was almost done we stopped and had lunch and then my wife, daughter and I headed back home.
I was feeling ok when we first got home and I took a shower to get cleaned up and then went into the living room and laid down on the couch to take a nap. When I woke up I started to feel bad. I was sore all over and I couldn't get warm. Later on, my wife, the most amazing woman in the world, made me some soup for dinner. After I ate I got so hot that I was sweating and had to go outside to cool off.
Sunday morning I got up and was still feeling bad so I decided to stay home from Remedy Church. I also started a fire in the fireplace and sat down under a blanket close to the fire. I'll probably go to sleep tonight and wake up on Monday feeling fine having wasted my weekend being sick and trying to get better.
